Throughout the conference were both general and in-depth analyzes in each session: The dual burden of nutrition in Vietnam during the nutritional transition period; current regulations on nutrition activities in hospitals; studies on nutritional status according to age and medical case,... from which to make recommendations, solutions to improve quality and appropriate nutrition for each subject based on medicine proof.

“Nutrition policy should be concerned with all target groups and economic regions; care for both the hospital and the community, creating a proactive nutritional policy for prevention from the community to the hospital as well as a nutritional policy to support treatment from the hospital the community,” Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Ngoc Khai – The President of the Vietnam Nutrition Association, shared in the presentation "Dual burden of nutrition in Vietnam in the transitional nutrition period: Current status, some causes, and suggestions."

Attending and speaking at the Conference, Mr. Vo Thu Tung - Deputy Director of the City Health Department. Da Nang commented: “Currently, in the world as well as in Vietnam, the disease pattern has also been shifting from a high rate of infectious diseases to a high rate of non-communicable diseases. Besides the double burden of nutrition, we are also being attacked by many types of foods flooding the Vietnamese food market. At the same time, it is also facing a huge shift from the needs of the people, which is the need from "eating well and wearing warm" to "eating well and wearing nice clothes." Because of "appetite," the content in eating well is very little, which can easily lead to either lack or excess of nutrition and the risk of metabolic disorders in each person's body. The conference is a necessary activity in the current context and an important forum for scientists, and medical staff, especially students, to exchange experiences and learn from each other.

Also, according to statistics from the Institute of Nutrition, the proportion of overweight and obese people and people with nutrition-related non-communicable diseases is increasing; The prevalence of malnutrition and potential hunger due to micronutrient deficiency and malnutrition still coexist. In addition, collective and individual food poisoning has recently occurred in many provinces and cities with different levels, in which many cases have resulted in death. “After more than two years of the Covid-19 pandemic, and in the context of a complicated pandemic, it is essential to apply a reasonable diet and physical exercise to strengthen the body's resistance. The exchange and update of knowledge on nutrition and food with evidence-based medicine prevention at the conference will summarize scientific values and thoroughly apply them to reality to get good results for a future of intelligent, tall, and healthy Vietnamese people.” Dr. Do Trong Tuan - Standing Vice Rector of Dong A University, shared at the conference.
