On October 20, Dong A University contributed 565 million VND to support and stand with residents, students, and faculty members in overcoming the impacts of natural disasters and floods in 2025.
The program was attended by representatives of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Da Nang City, leaders of local departments and associations, business federations, along with faculty members and more than 300 students of Dong A University.
Speaking at the event, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Thanh Viet – Vice President of Dong A University – shared: “Immediately after receiving the call for support from the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, the City Department of Education and Training, and other organizations, the University’s Board of Presidents, faculty, the Youth Union, and all student cohorts were ready to contribute. With empathy and a sense of responsibility, our faculty and students joined hands to offer meaningful contributions to the people of the Northern and North Central provinces who were severely affected by the natural disasters and floods in 2025. With the spirit of sharing, each lecturer contributed a day's salary, each student gave up a morning coffee, the labor union dedicated a ‘flower-free October 20’, and the Board of Presidents as well as the University’s Disaster Prevention Fund joined in.”

At the event, the Board of Presidents of Dong A University presented the entire contribution of 500 million VND to support the Northern and North Central communities in overcoming the consequences of the 2025 natural disasters and floods, through the leadership of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Da Nang City.
At the same time, Dong A University also allocated 65 million VND to support students and lecturers from Quang Tri, Ha Tinh, Nghe An, and Thanh Hoa whose families suffered severe damage from Typhoon No. 10 (Bualoi), sharing part of their difficulties and encouraging students to continue their studies with strengthened determination.
When informed that she would receive financial support for students whose families were affected by Typhoon No. 10 Bualoi, Nguyen Thi Tram Anh – a Marketing major from Ha Tinh – was deeply moved and somewhat surprised, as she and her classmates had just participated in a donation initiative called upon by their faculty to support communities recovering from this year’s natural disasters, despite her own family living in an affected area.
Tram Anh emotionally shared: “Seeing the devastated images of my hometown in the news, hearing my mother's choked voice on the phone telling me our house was destroyed and our crops lost—all of it truly broke my heart. Like many other students at Dong A University, I only wished to contribute whatever little I could to join my friends and others in helping the affected families restore their lives after the floods.

The support from my teachers and classmates is not only a source of encouragement for me and my family to overcome immediate hardship and remain committed to my studies; more importantly, it is a lesson in compassion and responsibility. When each student experiences this spirit of shared duty, kindness, love, and camaraderie—these core values of responsibility nurtured at Dong A University—every act of humanity becomes a profound lesson in becoming a complete human being.”
It is noted that early last academic year, Tram Anh also joined her classmates in saving portions of their expenses to contribute to the 500 million VND donation the university offered to support northern provinces recovering from Typhoon No. 3 (Yagi) during the Opening Ceremony of the 2024–2025 academic year.
ThS. Tran Hoang Em – Secretary of the Youth Union of Dong A University – shared: “From 43 voluntary blood donation festivals with more than 11,000 ‘drops of love’ collected, to our Live Blood Bank delivering hundreds of rare blood units, more than 100 days and nights stationed atop Hai Van Pass repairing over 3,000 motorbikes free of charge so people could return home safely during the pandemic, two consecutive years repairing more than 400 motorbikes for residents after severe flooding in Da Nang, and 12 years of the Gratitude Journey to Gac Ma… When ‘responsibility in action’ is spread and carried forward through generations of students, it forms the tradition of community responsibility within our university. It is not only service—it is education that nurtures a kind, responsible generation ready to contribute to their locality and to society.”
