Korean Language Student from Dong A University Wins Third Prize at the Northern Semifinal of the Korean Speech Contest – Ambassador’s Cup in Vietnam

The Third Prize of the Korean Speech Contest – Ambassador’s Cup in Vietnam, Northern Semifinal, was awarded to a male student from the Faculty of Korean Language and Culture, Dong A University.

At the “National Korean Speech Contest – Korean Ambassador’s Cup 2025”, Northern Semifinal recently held in Hanoi, Ho Nguyen Ngoc Phong, a student of class KL22A, Faculty of Korean Language and Culture, Dong A University, achieved an excellent performance and brought home the Third Prize.

Ngoc Phong represented Dong A University at the Northern Semifinal, competing with contestants from 16 universities and colleges.

Choosing the theme “The Beauty of Two Expressions: ‘Thank You’ and ‘I’m Sorry’ in Korean”, Ngoc Phong impressed the judges with his fluent presentation skills, confident and friendly demeanor, sharp thinking, and thoughtful answers to challenging questions related to this meaningful topic.

It is noteworthy that Ngoc Phong is also an outstanding student of the K22 Korean Language cohort. Alongside his diligent Korean studies in class, he has been working enthusiastically at Da Nang International Airport, assisting Korean passengers since his second year at university.

Despite his busy schedule balancing work and studies, Ngoc Phong actively joined the Korean Summer Camp Program this past summer, where he experienced diverse cultural activities in Korea.

After returning from the semifinal, Ngoc Phong immediately began preparing for the new academic year, actively engaging in activities to welcome the incoming K25 Korean Language freshmen while continuing his work commitments.

The “National Korean Speech Contest – Korean Ambassador’s Cup 2025” is organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Vietnam, in collaboration with the Korean Cultural Center, Korean Language Centers in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, King Sejong Institute, and sponsored by Ewha Womans University, Korea Tourism Organization, and Jeju Air.

The contest serves as a valuable platform for Vietnamese students learning Korean nationwide to challenge themselves and showcase their skills. This year’s competition consists of three categories: Korean majors, non-Korean majors, and high school students. The national final round will take place in October in Ho Chi Minh City.
